The Oromia regional government has announced it has collected over 94 billion birr in revenue from various sectors over the past six months.
This announcement, made by Eshetu Sirnesa, Deputy Head of the Oromia Communication Bureau, highlighted the region's financial performance alongside updates on agricultural production and peace initiatives.
The deputy head outlined that the substantial revenue was generated from municipal services and other sectors. He also emphasized the region's agricultural achievements, stating that 327 million quintals of production were harvested from 11.6 million hectares of land during the 2016/17 production season.
These efforts are aimed at boosting production, productivity, and ensuring food security within the region.
On the topic of regional peace and security, Ishetu announced that thousands of militants who accepted the government's call for peace have disarmed and entered rehabilitation centers for training.
He reiterated that the government's call for peace remains open to all. The Deputy Head also highlighted progress in agricultural development, food security, import substitution, and job creation.
He added that access to healthcare has been expanded, with 29.5 million people enrolled in community health insurance and over 10 million benefiting from the service.
