Portugal Embarks On New Educational Partnership With Ethiopia

Ethiopia's Minister of Education, Berhanu Nega (Prof.), and Portugal's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Nuno Sampaio, have engaged in discussions aimed at elevating the educational partnership between the two nations. The conversation, which included a high-level delegation from Portugal, focused on strengthening academic collaboration, particularly between universities, and expanding existing bilateral relations.

Minister Berhanu highlighted a unique initiative: the establishment of an educational museum dedicated to preserving Portugal's historical role in shaping Ethiopia's educational landscape. This museum, he emphasized, would serve as a testament to the enduring connection between the two nations.

Minister Sampaio echoed this sentiment, expressing Portugal's eagerness to deepen ties with Ethiopia not only in education but also in other areas, affirming a commitment to fostering a lasting friendship.

The Ministry of Education of Ethiopia reports that Portugal has shown a strong interest in expanding access to free education and promoting cultural collaborations. This commitment was further evidenced by the upcoming cultural showcase at Ethiopia's Yared Music School, planned to commemorate Portugal's National Day.

This event, hosted by the Portuguese Ambassador to Ethiopia, Luisa Fragosso, is expected to solidify the longstanding bilateral relationship and spark exciting new cultural exchanges.
