A German Parliament delegation has engaged in discussions with Ethiopian officials, focusing on the critical issues of peace, security, and human rights in Ethiopia and the wider region. The delegation has recognized Ethiopia's vital role in fostering peace and stability in East Africa, acknowledging the country's significant contributions to the region's well-being.
During the meeting, the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations and Peace Affairs, Honorable Dima Negewo (PhD), emphasized Ethiopia's commitment to promoting peace and stability within the country and the region. He highlighted the establishment of the National Dialogue Commission to resolve internal conflicts through dialogue and the implementation of transitional justice policies.
He also pointed out Ethiopia's significant contributions to peace and stability in Somalia and Sudan in the past. "We are committed to promoting peace and stability through dialogue," he stated. "Ethiopia is currently hosting refugees from several neighboring countries."
Dr. Dima further emphasized the need to resolve differences through dialogue and negotiation, stating that global conflicts hinder national development. The delegation, in turn, acknowledged Ethiopia's crucial role in promoting peace and stability in East Africa. They stressed the importance of continued efforts by Ethiopia to foster peace in the region and resolve conflicts through dialogue.
