Ethiopian Airlines has secured a 49% stake in Air Congo, gaining management control under a finalized agreement with the Democratic Republic of Congo government. This partnership, part of Ethiopian's Vision 2035 strategy, includes aircraft leasing, technical support, and training for Air Congo staff according to the reporter.
CEO Mesfin Tasew stated that this collaboration will boost connectivity in the DRC and Central Africa, fostering economic growth through increased investment, trade, and tourism. Air Congo joins other African airlines, such as ASKY, Malawi Airlines, and Zambia Airways, in Ethiopian Airlines' expanding portfolio of acquisitions and partnerships.
