Ambassador Mesganu Arga has stated that the government is making a concerted effort to address the root causes of migration, including preventing illegal human trafficking. This was announced during the 4th joint working group meeting between Ethiopia and the European Union, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ambassador Mesganu reaffirmed Ethiopia's commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with the EU. He emphasized that migration issues are given equal weight to other sensitive political matters, and that Ethiopia is working collaboratively with neighboring countries and the international community to resolve the problem.
The information released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also indicates that Ambassador Mitiku called on the European Union to take practical steps to lift the existing visa restrictions on Ethiopians.
