Ethiopia Reiterates Commitment to Implementing AfCFTA

The African Continental Free Trade Area- AfCFTA is a high ambition trade agreement, with a comprehensive scope that includes critical areas of Africa’s economy, such as digital trade and investment protection, amongst other areas.

By eliminating barriers to trade in Africa, the objective of the AfCFTA is to significantly boost intra-Africa trade, particularly trade in value-added production and trade across all sectors of Africa’s economy.

The AfCFTA held its 15th meeting of council of ministers responsible for trade in Africa in attendance with Ethiopian President Taye Atsikesilasie, senior officials of AfCFTA attendance, diplomats residing in Addis Ababa Ethiopia.

In his keynote speech President Taye Atsikesilassie reiterated that Ethiopia is playing it's share in implementing AfCFTA; taking a bold macroeconomic reforms which creates a conducive economic environment.

Secretary General at AfCFTA, Wamkele Mene for his parts has disclosed that efforts must be doubled to accelerate industrial development and improve Africa's productive capacity.

This two-day meeting will feature a performance report regarding the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area agreement.//
