Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics (ESL) has reported a strong financial performance, exceeding its revenue target by 106% and generating 46.8 billion Birr in the past six months. CEO Beriso Amelo (PHD) highlighted the company's success in navigating global challenges, including security concerns in the Red Sea and the Russia-Ukraine war.
While import/export tonnage fell short of targets (2,280,187 tons shipped versus a planned 3,398,319 tons), ESL significantly exceeded its export targets, shipping 16,382 tons compared to a planned 5,463 tons.
The company also reported success in inland transport and passenger services. The CEO attributed the overall success to macroeconomic reforms, digitalization efforts, and a focus on customer satisfaction. ESL is also investing in infrastructure development and capacity building, including a partnership with Addis Ababa University.
