Ethiopia is signalling a bold push to solidify its partnerships in Africa, engaging in high-level diplomatic talks aimed at forging stronger bonds with both Namibia and Seychelles.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Ambassador Misganu Arga, on Thursday, convened with Namibian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Mbapewa Muwangwa, and Seychelles Ambassador to Ethiopia, Conrad Vincent Medrich, setting the stage for a new era of collaboration.
The meetings, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, were strategic dialogues focused on actionable steps to unlock the untapped potential of these relationships. With Ambassador Muwangwa, the conversation centred around a dynamic expansion of economic ties.
"We see tremendous opportunities to boost trade and investment between our two nations," Ambassador Misganu stated, emphasizing the potential for Ethiopian and Namibian businesses to mutually benefit.
A key component of the discussion also included exploring enhanced aviation links, suggesting a possible expansion in flight routes and connectivity aimed at facilitating greater business and cultural exchange.
The discussions with Ambassador Medrich, however, took on a dual focus, encompassing not just bilateral matters but also the broader scope of Pan-African collaboration.
Ethiopia articulated a clear desire to intensify its engagement with Seychelles not only on matters of mutual benefit but also as a crucial partner in tackling pressing continental challenges.
This suggests a coordinated approach on issues ranging from climate change to regional security, further underscoring Ethiopia’s commitment to its leadership role on the continent, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia.
According to the Ministry, these diplomatic exchanges mark a deliberate effort by Ethiopia to forge deeper and more robust alliances across Africa, signalling a strategic focus on sustainable growth and shared prosperity.
