Ethiopia, Pakistan Strengthen Ties with New Political Consultation Agreement

Ethiopia and Pakistan have today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a framework for regular political consultations. The agreement aims to bolster existing bilateral cooperation and explore new avenues for collaboration. The MoU was signed by Ethiopian State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mesganu Arga, and Pakistan's Additional Foreign Secretary, Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan.

Ambassador Mesganu expressed Ethiopia's strong desire to expand cooperation with Pakistan across diverse sectors, including agriculture, investment, trade, aviation, industry, and science and technology. He reiterated Ethiopia's commitment to South-South cooperation.

Ambassador Khan echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of deepening bilateral relations. He specifically cited the recent launch of direct Ethiopian Airlines flights to Karachi as a significant step in strengthening ties between the two nations. The new consultation mechanism is expected to facilitate further progress in these areas.
