Ethiopia Emphasizes Quality For Export Growth

State Minister of Trade and Regional Integration has underscored the importance of improving export commodity quality for boosting Ethiopia's export trade.

This emphasis was highlighted at the graduation ceremony of 85 trainees from the Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX) Academy, who completed courses in coffee quality evaluation and cupping, e-trade, and quality assessment for grains, pulses, and oilseeds.

The State Minister, Yasmin Wohabrebbi emphasized that achieving export targets without a strong focus on quality would be challenging. "Quality is critical for increasing export volumes and positioning ourselves as competitive suppliers in the international market," she stated.

The minister commended the ECX for its commitment to enhancing export quality through targeted training programs for professionals in the export sector.

The newly graduated trainees are expected to play a vital role in improving export commodity standards, ultimately contributing to increased export gains for Ethiopia.

ECX CEO Wondimagegnehu Negera underlined that the graduates received practical courses to enhance their expertise on quality of export commodities.

Moreover, ECX has been supporting the development of a modern trading system, ensuring that high-quality agricultural, industrial, and mineral products are available in the market.
