Nigeria is set to build a brand new £14 billion city called Centenary City, with aspirations to rival global powerhouses like Dubai and Singapore.
Located just outside the capital, Abuja, Centenary City is envisioned as a futuristic, eco-friendly urban center boasting world-class amenities.
The project, managed by Centenary City FZE, will span 1,260 hectares and feature a central business district, financial hub, luxurious hotels, and residential areas.
Beyond these core components, the city will also boast a museum and cultural center, an 18-hole golf course, a safari park, and state-of-the-art sports facilities.
Centenary City's focus on sustainable urban living aims to attract global attention to Nigeria. Abdulsalami Abubakar, chairman of Centenary City Plc and former president of Nigeria, describes the project as a "legacy" for the nation. He believes Centenary City will "show the investing world Nigeria in a new light."
Drawing inspiration from cities like Dubai, Singapore, and Canary Wharf, Abubakar envisions Centenary City as a "revolutionary approach to urbanization in Africa."
The project is expected to generate significant economic benefits, including over 150,000 construction jobs and around 250,000 permanent jobs.
The city is also anticipated to house a residential population of 200,000 and attract approximately 500,000 visitors daily. The story is from EXPRESS.
