Ethiopia: A "Great Sporting Nation" with "Remarkable Love" For Football - African Football icons

Former African football legends have expressed their belief that Ethiopia has the capacity to host the African Cup of Nations.

El Hadji Diouf, a former player for the Senegalese national team, told ETV that he believes Ethiopia has the capability to organize the African Cup of Nations. He highlighted Ethiopia's significant contribution to African football, stating, "The people's love for football is remarkable." Diouf also expressed his confidence that Ethiopia will host the African Cup of Nations soon.

Jay Jay Okocha, a former player for the Nigerian national team, said, "Ethiopia is a great sporting nation and has the potential to represent Africa on a grand scale." He also expressed his delight with the warm welcome he received from the football-loving Ethiopian people.

Kalusha Bwalya, a former player for the Zambian national team, echoed similar sentiments, expressing his joy at the reception he received from the people and the friendly match organized by CAF yesterday.

Former Ethiopian national team players Saladin Said, Mnyahil Teshome, and Adane Girma emphasized that Ethiopia is the founding nation of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and highlighted the promising work being done to develop the country's football.

Saladin Said pointed out that the construction of new stadiums and the renovation of existing ones to maintain their standards will help the country prepare to host the African Cup of Nations in 2029.

Minyahil Teshome urged the government to continue focusing on sports, while Adane Girma emphasized the numerous benefits of hosting the CAF General Assembly in Addis Ababa. He also highlighted the importance of focusing on football as a means of promoting the country, as it goes beyond just sport.
