Heavy rain in Silte Zone, Central Ethiopia has displaced 6,000 people and flooded over 900 houses.
People affected with the flood have asked for lasting solutions.
Head of Silte Zone Communication, Salia Hasan, told EBC that the flooding has completely destroyed more than 1,200 hectares of corn, wheat, mango, papaya and coffee production.
One of the victims of the disaster, Umer Sirmolo, told EBC “The level of flood is rising every day. Houses were completely submerged. The crops of the local residents were completely destroyed. There was a heavy flood. We have never seen this in our age.”
The residents stated that the flood occurred suddenly and the residents of the area were unable to save any property than their lives.
