Ethiopia, UAE Forge Pact to Extradite Criminals

Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have reached a significant agreement to extradite wanted suspects, enhancing bilateral cooperation on criminal investigations.

The announcement follows a crucial meeting between Ethiopian Federal Police Commissioner General Demelash Gebremichael and Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Mohammed, head of the Dubai Police Investigation Team.

During their discussions, Commissioner Demelash highlighted ongoing efforts to apprehend suspects who have fled to Ethiopia after committing crimes in Dubai. This collaboration aims to ensure that justice is served for victims in both nations.

The two parties agreed to establish a joint criminal investigation team, which will facilitate the extradition process and enhance accountability for criminal activities.

They also emphasized the importance of sharing expertise and resources to strengthen their respective law enforcement capabilities.

Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah expressed appreciation for Ethiopia's commitment to cooperation and indicated readiness to welcome Ethiopian Federal Police officers to Dubai for future joint operations.

This partnership marks a pivotal step in combating cross-border crime, reinforcing the commitment of both countries to uphold the rule of law and enhance security for their citizens.
