Denmark Pledges $15 Million For Ethiopia’s Forestry Development

The Government of Denmark has announced a significant commitment of $15 million aimed at bolstering Ethiopia's forestry development initiatives. This funding is earmarked for the protection of Ethiopia’s rich natural forests while also facilitating the creation of new forest cover across the nation.

As Ethiopia engages in a series of crucial bilateral and multilateral discussions during the UN Climate Change Conference being held in Baku, Azerbaijan, the pledge marks a key development in their ongoing efforts to address climate change and promote environmental sustainability.

In a formal agreement reached during these discussions with Danish officials, including Representative Simon Wendel Petersen, Denmark affirmed its steadfast partnership with Ethiopia, particularly in supporting its comprehensive green policy framework. Petersen underscored Denmark's commitment to collaborating with Ethiopia on vital climate change prevention initiatives.

Seyoum Mekonnen, the State Minister of Planning and Development for the Federal Government of Ethiopia, expressed that the global community must recognize the tangible progress Ethiopia is making through its ambitious green legacy projects. He acknowledged that Denmark’s decision to provide funding represents a vital endorsement of Ethiopia's efforts to combat climate change and foster a sustainable environment for future generations.
