Ethiopia has launched a six-month national public mobilization campaign to combat environmental pollution and its complications. Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh stated that the green development initiative has borne fruits in Ethiopia.
After the green legacy initiative incorporated by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, 32.2 billion seedlings have been planted over the past five years. "Following the green legacy initiative program initiated by Abiy Ahmed, successful achievements have been registered in Ethiopia," Tiruneh pointed out.
The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted that Ethiopia is implementing four programs to combat environmental pollution across the country. Due to the effective greenery activities in Ethiopia, the country's green coverage is increasing, Tiruneh underlined.
This campaign aims to protect against plastic, air, soil, water, sound, and environmental pollution in order to create a favorable living environment in Ethiopia. The Deputy Prime Minister called upon all stakeholders to properly implement the campaign at all levels.
Tiruneh emphasized that the green development initiative has yielded positive results in Ethiopia. After Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's green legacy initiative, billions of seedlings have been planted, contributing to the country's environmental conservation efforts.
Ethiopia is taking a comprehensive approach by implementing four programs to address various forms of pollution, including plastic, air, soil, water, and noise pollution. These initiatives are aimed at improving the overall quality of the environment and creating a more sustainable living condition for the nation.
The Deputy Prime Minister urged all stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector, civil society organizations, and the general public, to actively participate in this national campaign and contribute to its successful implementation at all levels.
