Ethiopia Holds Bilateral Talks with Countries, Global Organizations on Excelling Aviation Sector

 

Ethiopia held bilateral talks with several countries and global aviation organizations on excelling aviation sector.

The talks were carried on the sideline of the 2024 International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) symposium that has been concluded Thursday in the Dominican Republic.

The Ethiopian delegation led by Minister of Transport and Logistics, Alemu Sime (PhD) has attended the symposium.

Minister Alemu also had bilateral talks on with high-ranking officials from a variety of organizations and nations, including the President and Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organization Council, focusing in particular on matters that can boost Ethiopia’s aviation industry’s competitiveness.

To sustain Ethiopia’s competitiveness in the aviation sector, the Minister said that it is imperative that efforts be directed towards the potential for collaboration in workforce training, digitization, modernizing air navigation control, and increasing Ethiopian-based aircraft spare parts production.

Alemu further disclosed on his social media accounts that he has also had fruitful bilateral conversations in the transport and aviation sectors with senior officials from Singapore, Sierra Leone, the United Arab Emirates, and Canada among others.   

Whilst the 2024 ICAO symposium has called for greater financial and political investment to secure the safety, security, and sustainability of its expansion.

 ICAO Council President, Salvatore Sciacchitano, advocated Wednesday for air transport’s role as a catalyst for sustainable development, while addressing the opening session of the 2024 ICAO Global Implementation Support Symposium (GISS), ICAO’s leading implementation support and capacity-building event.
