Ethiopian Military Chief Meets Ugandan President

The Chief of Staff of the Ethiopian Armed Forces, Field Marshal Berhanu Jula, held discussions with Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

This meeting took place at the Ugandan State House as part of Field Marshal Jula's official working visit to Uganda, which began on July 2, 2024, following an invitation from Uganda's Chief of Defense Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

President Museveni welcomed Field Marshal Berhanu and his delegation, emphasizing long-standing bilateral relations and friendship between Uganda and Ethiopia.

The Ugandan leader stressed the importance of the two sister nations working together for the benefit of the region and Africa as a whole. He particularly highlighted the need to strengthen cooperation in the defense sector and in maintaining peace and security in the region.

Field Marshal Berhanu, for his part, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality extended to him and his delegation. He underscored the strategic nature of Ethiopia's relationship with Uganda, noting that both countries play significant roles in establishing peace and security in the region. The Ethiopian military chief emphasized that enhanced cooperation in the defense sector would be of great importance to both nations.

The meeting reflects the ongoing efforts to bolster military and diplomatic ties between Ethiopia and Uganda, with a focus on regional stability and mutual defense interests.
