WFP to Heighten Support to the Displaced in East Africa, Ethiopia,

Predsident of the State of Benishangul-Gumuz State, Ashadli Hassan, held talks with the East Africa & Ethiopia of the World Food Program (WFP) Chris Nikoi.

In their discussions, President Hassan explained that the government has been providing support to citizens displaced by the conflict in the region along with non-governmental organizations.

He also stated that 90 percent of the displaced people have returned to their villages following the relative peace.

He called upon the WFP and non-governmental organizations to continue the support, as the work of rehabilitation and construction of destroyed institutions, including food aid, is not possible with the government alone.

Chris Nikoi, on the other hand, underscored, that there is pressure for the provision of more support to displaced people and refugees from Sudan. He finally reiterated the WFP’s commitment to press ahead with the necessary support.//
