Over One Billion Birr Spent on Construction of More Than 400 Kilometers of Roads in Harari Region

The Harari regional government announced that over 400 kilometers of new and existing roads have been constructed in rural and urban areas over the past 6 years, with a budget exceeding one billion birr allocated.

The regional government is giving special attention to road infrastructure accessibility and is realizing projects that benefit both the rural and urban populations, registering encouraging results in the road infrastructure sector.

An average of 50 kilometers of regular and temporary road maintenance has been carried out annually, and beyond road construction, bridges connecting villages have also been built and opened for service.

Specifically, the road projects constructed in the three rural districts were designed to address the long-standing infrastructure demands raised by the rural community for years and aim to increase farmer benefit.

These projects, which demonstrate the regional government's commitment to achieving fair development accessibility and benefit in urban and rural areas, have helped connect the rural districts with the city.

In particular, they have enabled farmers to easily transport their produce to market, preventing the difficulties and product losses they previously faced during the process of getting their goods to market.

The regional government also stated that in the current budget year, over 11 kilometers of new road construction, over 6 kilometers of corridor development work, and extensive road maintenance projects are being carried out in rural districts.
