Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has held separate bilateral meetings today with the Director-General of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), QU Dongyu, and President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia, on the eve of the 38th African Union (AU) Summit.
In his meeting with QU, Prime Minister Abiy discussed Ethiopia's ongoing agricultural initiatives and highlighted the importance of collaboration to bolster food security, sustainability, and resilience within the sector. The discussions emphasized a strengthened partnership between Ethiopia and the FAO to address these critical challenges.
Later, during his meeting with President Hichilema, the Prime Minister engaged in talks covering a wide range of regional and bilateral issues. A key focus was on enhancing cooperation in the energy and aviation sectors between Ethiopia and Zambia. Furthermore, in light of the upcoming AU Summit, both leaders underscored the critical need for continental unity in navigating the complexities of the evolving global landscape. The discussions highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts among African nations to address shared challenges and seize opportunities for collective growth. The 38th AU Summit is expected to draw numerous heads of state to Addis Ababa.
