Meta Platforms, in collaboration with Ethio telecom, has announced a comprehensive program designed to enhance digital services across Ethiopia.
This partnership emerged from strategic conversations between Ethio telecom's CEO, Frehiwot Tamru, and Vikas Menon, Meta’s Director of Business Development for the Middle East and Africa, along with other senior executives from Meta.
The primary goal of this collaboration is to enhance the digital experience for customers by promoting increased data usage and providing complimentary access to Meta-Facebook services, even for users without a balance.
Furthermore, vital resources pertaining to health, education, and employment opportunities will be made available at no cost thereby fostering informed and empowered communities.
Frehiwot highlighted that the initiative aims to enhance digital inclusion in Ethiopia through the combined efforts of both companies. The partnership will also emphasize the importance of digital literacy programs, the creation of local content, the preservation of cultural heritage, improvements in cybersecurity, and the safeguarding of customer data privacy.
