The Addis Ababa City Administration Transport Bureau has announced an adjustment to the service fares for minibuses, midi-buses, and city buses operating in the public transport sector.
The new fare adjustment will come into effect starting tomorrow, October 6, 2017.
The bureau stated that the previous fare rate, which was implemented on October 20, 2016, only considered the increase in fuel prices.
The current adjustment, however, takes into account the current retail price of fuel and other administrative costs.
The bureau has urged all public transport service providers to adhere to the newly adjusted legal fare rate.
The bureau and relevant stakeholders will take strict action against any entities that violate this directive.
The public is encouraged to report any public transport service providers charging fares exceeding the legal rate to nearby transport regulators, traffic police, or the nearest transport branch office in person or through the free hotline 9417.
