Ethiopians Congratulated as 13th Month of the Year Falls

The Government Communication Service (GCS) has extended best wishes to Ethiopians as the unique 13th month, known as Pagumen, has fallen today.

The Ethiopian Calendar has 13 months, 12 months of 30 days each with additional month of five or six days, depending on whether the year is a leap year.

In a congratulatory message GCS issued this morning, it said that Pagumen is a juncture where we make time to reevaluate our path in the push to build sustain generations.

“As we celebrate the month, we recall sacrifices successive generations paid to make Ethiopia tick, braveries showcased by preceding generations, making us all proud.”

“As we mark the day, we need to take time and contemplate on ways of handing over a sovereign nation to future generations, the communication service went on saying, calling on current generations to preserve wisdoms what has been inherited form old days,” it urged Ethiopians.

GCS further recalled that successive generations have been independent and responsible in their pursuance to governance and sovereignty, all throughout history.

Ethiopia is well known for its cooperative efforts of continental and international significances, actively taking part in the establishment of continental and international organizations, the statement further noted.

 It further noted that Ethiopia, as a founding member of the United Nations, has proven commitment to the implementation of principles of the UN and  the promotion of its  principles at regional and international levels.
