By Staff Reporter

The Hawassa Industrial Park announced that export of products over  the last six months has fetched 20 million dollars.

Reflecting on this development, Park General Manager, Mathewos Ashenafi underscored that the Park aggressively engaged international textile and clothing manufacturers, thus helping its revenue shoot up during the first six months of the Ethiopian fiscal year 2016.

Of the total of 22 international textile and clothing manufacturers that have signed a contract t, 19 have entered operation.

Among the 19 operating in the park, some have penetrated European and African markets.

The Park earned nearly half of its targeted revenue from export to foreign market for the entire year. The General Manager said the park’s half-year revenue and measures it took are steps in the right direction to help it amass the 44 million dollars it plans to collect by the end of the fiscal year.

Ashenafi further underscored that over 25,000 citizens have gained experience while working in industrial parks, giving impetus to the vital process of skills and technology transfer.//
