The International Association of Football Federation (FIFA) made a historic decision Tuesday as its Council members unanimously agreed to unite the world through the hosting of the 2030 FIFA World Cup and the Centenary edition of the association.
The sole candidacy to host the next FIFA world Cup was awarded to the combined bid of Morocco, Portugal, and Spain for joint hosting. “Two continents - Africa and Europe - united not only in a celebration of football but also in providing unique social and cultural cohesion. What a great message of peace, tolerance and inclusion,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
The centenary of the FIFA World Cup, whose first edition was played in Uruguay in 1930, will be celebrated in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay.
Accordingly, Paraguay will host the first three of the centenary event matches, which are scheduled to be played at in Montevideo’s mythical Estádio Centenário, where FIFA WORLD CUP commenced its journey, Infantino added.
