Trade and Regional Integration Ministry of Ethiopia said fuel price adjustment applied has so far resulted in minimizing contraband activities.
The minister Gebremeskel Challa made the remark while briefing the media about major performance of his ministry in modernizing the trade system of Ethiopia.
He highlighted when the price adjustment is nearer to neighboring countries it turned on significantly discouraging the illegal Fuel trade.
The ill effects of contraband are critical problem in disrupting the countries import and export trade system.
Ethiopia is currently being challenged by contraband activities in livestock, khat, cereals and oilseeds among others.
The minister also tipped modernization of the fuel supply system from end to end by online system is being in pipeline to contain the challenge.
