Ethiopia signed a treaty to join the African Union’s African Risk Capacity Insurance Company (ARC).
On the signing event held Tuesday at the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Misganu Arega, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, said Ethiopia will cooperate with ARC to enhance capacity building, planning, and preparedness for extreme weather conditions and natural disasters.
Amb. Misganu who signed the agreement on the Ethiopian side also expressed the country’s commitment to partner international and regional entities like ARC in an effort to mitigate clime change.
Signing the treaty representing ARC, Mohamed Salem Bukhari, who led the African Union delegation, asserted that Ethiopia's decision to join ARC demonstrates the country's commitment to lower the risk of anthropogenic climate change.
