The Ministry of Health and Tech Invention Lifecare Company have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to conduct a feasibility study for vaccine production in Ethiopia.
Minister of Health Dr. Mekdes Daba stated that the signing of the agreement is a significant step towards vaccine production in Ethiopia.
Noting that the COVID-19 pandemic has prompted African countries to start producing their own vaccines, she emphasized that domestic vaccine production is a key priority to ensure public health and pandemic preparedness.
The Ministry's information indicates that Ethiopia is qualified to meet international vaccine quality standards and supply vaccines to other countries in addition to domestic consumption.
She stated that preparations are underway to start the construction and production processes for vaccines and assured that the necessary cooperation will be provided to the Indian Tech Invention Lifecare Company, which was selected to conduct the feasibility study.
