The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, reported surviving an air strike at Sana'a airport in Yemen.
Israel is reported to have carried out a large-scale air strike on Houthi military infrastructure in Sana'a, the Yemeni capital. In a social media post, Dr. Tedros stated that he and his colleagues survived the attack which hit the airport while they were present. He indicated that he and his team will remain in Sana'a until the airport is repaired and operational again.
Dr. Tedros expressed his condolences to those who lost their lives in the attack and their families. He explained that his visit to Yemen was to negotiate the release of detained UN staff and to assess the health and humanitarian situation in the country FBC reported.
