Engineer Aisha Mohammed, Ethiopia's Minister of Defense, has observed the impact of the livestock improvement program and the "Education for Generations" movement in the Harari region.
She stated that the nationwide livestock improvement initiative is yielding tangible results in Harari, with significant improvements seen in milk, egg, chicken, and honey production. The focus is on improving livestock breeds to enhance milk, meat, and honey yields.
The success of this program, she emphasized, is laying a foundation for national food security at both the household and national levels. She also suggested expanding similar initiatives to other areas to maximize the program's effectiveness.
Separately, the Minister highlighted the positive impact of the "Education for Generations" movement in Harari. Community participation has led to significant improvements in school infrastructure.
The movement has addressed classroom shortages in some schools and provided essential learning materials, creating a more conducive learning environment.
The Minister noted that this initiative demonstrates the community's and leadership's ability to design and implement self-reliant projects, moving beyond a purely passive role.
