Ethiopia Mentioned as “Country Facilitating Effective Coordination’’ among the Nile Basin States

Ethiopia, the initiator of the Nile Basin cooperation framework, is mentioned as a "country that has facilitated effective coordination" among basin states.

The remark was heard during the Nile Basin Initiative (NBI) committee meeting which brought together key stakeholders from various institutions in Ethiopia Monday to discuss their shared vision on the Nile basin initiative and delve into its status.

The NBI advocates cooperation and dialogue among riparian countries to eliminate political tensions, address the challenges of water scarcity, and promote economic development.

The initiative also aims at achieving sustainable socio-economic development through equitable utilization of water resources of the Nile River.
