Adanech Abeibei, Addis Ababa City Mayor, has just been named African Female Leader of the Year by the African Leadership Magazine.

The 2024 Person of the Year was announced during a two-year event organized under the theme 'Building Resilience African Economies,' the event seeks to promote international trade and is expected to showcase Ethiopia as a preferable foreign investment destination.

The African Leadership Magazine serves as a prominent platform for highlighting leadership, development, and innovation across the African continent.

Also a lawyer by profession, Adanech has been serving as the 32nd mayor of the political capital of Africa, replacing Takele Umma in 2021.

The Ethiopian Customs Commission in collaboration with the UK-based African Leadership Magazine has held lengthy discussions involving customs authorities and port administrators drawn from across the African continent.

A host of remedial approaches have been suggested with the view to revamp customs and port administration practices in response to evolving trade dynamics and security challenges. Some of these include modernizing customs procedures, investing in port infrastructure and adopting digital technologies for trade facilitation, among others.

The closing of the two-day consultative event will be attended by Aynalem Nigusie, Ethiopian Minister of Revenues, Ken Gimi (PhD) Chairman of African Leadership Magazine and representatives from various African countries.
