Two Final Candidates Shortlisted for Chairmanship of National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE)

The Candidate recruitment committee of NEBE announced that two final candidates have been shortlisted for the chairmanship of the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE).

The committee said it has received 56 nominations from November 13 to 23 through various mechanisms.

In a statement the committee issued, among the 56 nominees, 52 of them were men and the remaining 4 were women.

Five individuals were identified based on different criteria in three rounds before the two candidates who met the criteria.

Accordingly, Melatework Hailu and Tadese Lema were selected as the final candidates for the chairmanship of the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia.

It was disclosed that the two finalists were selected considering their experiences and political neutrality.

The two candidates will be presented to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed as the NEBE will only need one chair, who that will be approved by the HPR.
