President Taye Atske Selassie has met with the new African Union Commission Chairperson, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, for what has been described as a fruitful discussion, the AU and Permanent Representative of Ethiopia to the African Economic Commission of the United Nations, Ambassador Hirut Zemene, confirmed.
During the discussion, President Taye stated that the Ethiopian government will provide the necessary support for the new Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf's term to be successful.
It was also indicated that the chairperson stated his readiness to work together with Ethiopia.
They discussed the issues they will focus on in continuing and strengthening the work done by the previous leadership of the union.
The new Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, stated that he had a fruitful discussion with the President on this occasion.
He further stated that they will work to maintain the strong relationship between Ethiopia, which is the host country of the African Union headquarters, and the Union.
