The Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission (ENDC) has successfully completed its agenda collection process at the district level for the national consultation in the Afar region. During a media briefing, ENDC Commissioner Ambassador Ayrorit Mohammed (PhD) highlighted that this initiative involved a three-day consultation forum in Semera, where over 800 representatives from various districts, known as woredas, gathered to contribute to the national dialogue. These representatives played a crucial role in identifying key agendas for discussion, and the commission has now selected 54 individuals to engage with stakeholders on these important issues.
Commissioner Bilen Gebremedihin emphasized that the chosen representatives, who come from a diverse array of political parties, associations, and government sectors, will focus on the identified agenda topics. While the agenda collection process in Afar is nearing completion, it is expected to wrap up by September, although some areas have faced delays due to both human and natural challenges. Additionally, similar agenda collection forums have been conducted in various regions, including Addis Ababa City Administration and others, as the country grapples with ongoing turbulence. The ENDC aims to foster dialogue among all stakeholders to address the divisions that have emerged, allowing for a more unified approach to the nation’s challenges.
