State Minister of Tourism, Sileshi Girma, announced that Ethiopia has achieved remarkable results in the tourism sector in recent years of reform.

The International Museum Day was celebrated in Dessie town under the theme "The Role of Museums in a Fast-Changing Society," with the attendance of high-ranking federal and regional government officials and professionals from the sector.

State Minister of Tourism, Sileshi Girma, who attended the event, highlighted the astounding work done in the tourism sector during the reform years.

He recalled that Ethiopia, despite being home to numerous amazing attractions, had not utilized them before, but following the national reform, extensive developments have taken place.

He mentioned that in the tourism sector, both in Addis Ababa and in the regions, quality and internationally standardized constructions have been completed and started operations in a short period.

As a result, he stated that tangible results have been recorded in developing tourist attractions, preserving heritage, promoting tourism, and making it a source of economic income.

He also noted the significant role of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (Dr.) in these development efforts.

He highlighted that extensive renovation of heritage sites and museums is ongoing in various parts of the country, and the renovation of the Dessie Museum is part of this effort.

He added that the museum's renovation has not only preserved its assets but also made it more convenient for tourists, as it houses historical artifacts including the remains of Lucy and Selam, ENA reported.
