ECA Says Committed for Renewed Ties with Africa

The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) says it is ready to take its relationship with Africa into a new height.

The remark was made here in Addis Ababa today as Foreign Affairs State Minister of Ethiopia, Amb. Misganu Arga received and spoke with the newly appointed Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic commission for Africa, Claver Gatete.

Amb. Misganu told Claver Gatete that Ethiopia values what ECA does and hoped to strengthen ties with the two parties, which he called historical.

The ambassador also noted   the huge potential Ethiopia’s economy has to offer and the will and commitment of the government to closely work with ECA on such issues as promoting Inclusive Global Financial Architecture.

Gatete on his part expressed ECA’s commitment to further beef up the historic ties between UNECA and Africa, chiefly for the socio- economic advancement of the entire continent.

The executive director added that ECA and countries like Ethiopia, can devise ways to work with International Financial Institutions.

It was on Oct. 06, 2023 Claver Gatete of Rwanda appointed as the next Executive Secretary of UNECA succeeding to Vera Songwe of Cameroon.
