Ye Lemat Trufat (The ‘Bounty of Basket’) initiative, which was initiated and launched by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, is said to be inspiring farming and pastoral communities across the nation.
The remark was made Deputy Prime Minister, Temesgen Tiruneh, during a meeting kicked off Sunday in Hawassa, Sidama Regional State.
The meeting is aimed at evaluating the performance of the national development program that was launched in November 2022.
Ye Lemat Tirufat was launched with a goal of achieving nutritional security and food sovereignty, by maximizing production and productivity of dairy, eggs, chicken, and honey and related products.
Temesgen said at the meeting that the main objective of “YeLemat Trufat” development program is ensuring food sovereignty.
Temesgen stated that the initiative has created interest and motivation among farmers and pastoralist in enhancing their productivity since its launch, and he indicated special attention the government has placed on the agri sector.
