Ethiopian Foreign Minister Ambassador Mesganu Arga has called on Swiss companies to capitalize on Ethiopia's burgeoning investment opportunities.
During a meeting today with Swiss Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Philippe Stalder, Ambassador Mesganu highlighted the strengthening bilateral relationship between the two countries, noting that Switzerland is the fifth largest destination for Ethiopian exports.
Ambassador Mesganu emphasized Ethiopia's commitment to deepening economic ties with Switzerland, specifically encouraging investment in mining, manufacturing, agricultural processing, and information technology. He also underscored Ethiopia's peaceful pursuit of sea access, emphasizing the potential of its large (120+ million) population and promising economy.
Assistant Minister Stalder reciprocated the sentiment, describing the Swiss-Ethiopian relationship as deep and diverse, and pledging to work towards further strengthening it across various sectors. He also commended Ethiopia's role in regional peace and stability, particularly its efforts in counter-terrorism.
