The United Nations General Assembly has recognized the Ethiopian government for its exceptional achievements in the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) across the country.

During the 79th session of the General Assembly in New York, the UN Task Force on the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases presented an award to Ethiopia's Ministry of Health.

The award acknowledges Ethiopia's success in implementing comprehensive programs to prevent and control NCDs, particularly its community-based services and efforts in cervical cancer prevention.

The award was accepted by Ethiopia’s Minister of Health, Dr. Mekdes Daba, who is attending the General Assembly.

The Ministry of Health expressed pride in the recognition, attributing the success to its integrated approach in tackling non-communicable diseases throughout the country.
