Gorgora Eco-Resort in Gonder, North Ethiopia, has impressed several foreign diplomats who have visited the site.

They mention several reasons why the resort is a must see for global tourists.

They predicted that the recently opened Gorgora Eco-Resort would boost Ethiopia’s tourism sector in addition to creating a ton of jobs for locals in the vicinity.

UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Ethiopia, Ramiz Alakbarov, told EBC World that the resort is a state-of-the-art facility.

“I feel amazing. First of all, I’m very happy to be here with a group of colleagues to visit this magnificent key development. It is state-of-the-art facility. It has everything one can think of, if they want to engage themselves into ecotourism.  I’m impressed that the facility itself is actually fitting perfectly into the nature. So, the way it has been designed is fully integrated with the landscape,” Alakbarov said.

UN Refugee Agency Country Representative to Ethiopia Andrew Mbogori on his part appreciated the resort for it connects history with modernity.

“We now have this very grand resort here. You know you can experience history. You can experience luxury and you can experience nature. So, it is a combination of history, nature and scenery. You know, you get it all.”

Mesmerized by the resort like Alakbarov and Mbogori, Aurelia Patrizia Calabro, Director of Gender Equality and Women Empowerment Division at UNIDO, expressed her excitement saying, “I’m definitely very impressed about the location, about the way the scenery has been realized.
