Ethiopia, Agreed to Elevate Relations with Greece to Higher Level: Ambassador Misganu Arga

In Athens, Ethiopian State Minister for Foreign Affairs Ambassador Mesganu Arga held discussions with Greek Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Alexandra Papadopoulo over matters that could enhance the two nations’ bilateral and multilateral ties. At the event, Ambassador Misganu Arga offered the deputy minister an overview of the government's worthwhile efforts to safeguard national harmony, focusing on the Pretoria agreement’s implementation, the Ethiopian sea gate issue, the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) tripartite negotiations, the national comprehensive consultation forum, and the national transitional justice policy's implementation.

In his remarks, State Minister Ambassador Misganu emphasized the two nations' shared history and recommended deepening existing political and economic ties. For this reason, Ambassador Misganu reiterated how crucial it is to put in a lot of effort to bolster the two friendly nations' longstanding relationships in an assortment of domains, including trade, investment, technology, and training.

Ambassador Misganu went on further stating that more drastic action would be required from the international community to lessen the ecological damage caused by climate change, which is a global concern. He stressed that Ethiopia has been diligently striving to execute the Green Legacy Initiative (GLI), which intends to reach 50 billion by 2025.

Greek Ambassador Alexandra Papadopoulo, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, concurred, detailing that it would be worthwhile to capitalize on Ethiopia and Greece's long-standing relationship to further develop cooperation and pledge mutual benefit. The Greek ambassador, Papadopoulo, addressed the concern further and praised Greece’s track record in the development of renewable energy sources, confirming Ethiopia's strong desire to collaborate with her nation on climate change.

Ethiopia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the two parties have decided to improve their cooperation in multilateral platforms, work together on pressing global challenges, and fortify their economic ties. In light of these developments, the Ethiopian Honorary Consulate Office in Greece was inaugurated by Ambassador Misganu Arga, the State Minister of Foreign Affairs.
