Ethiopia has secured funding from the government of France funding for its initiative to develop sustainable alternative low-carbon aviation fuel.
The announcement came during the sideline of 3rd Conference on Aviation Alternative Fuels which has been held in Dubai from 20 to 24 November.
Earlier before this, according to the Ethiopian Ministry of transport and Logistics, was a bilateral meeting on the agenda between Ethiopian and French government officials.
While Ethiopia’s initiative to develop sustainable alternative low-carbon aviation fuel is a bold move by the government, the funding is a key to transitioning the nation from the fossil-based to the low-carbon one. This is a plus to implementation of Ethiopia’s aspiration for net-zero carbon dioxide emissions from aviation by 2050.
By Oct. 2022, Ethiopia was among the 184 member states of the ICAO that agreed to a long-term aspirational goal of net-zero carbon dioxide emissions from aviation by 2050.
