World's Two Biggest Economies Agree On 90-day Abuse After Talks In Switzerland

China and the US, the world’s two biggest economies, agreed to a 90-day pause on most of their levies after a first round of trade talks in Switzerland over the weekend.

The two sides said on Monday they had reached "important consensus" on key issues.

The two-day talks in Geneva, Switzerland, "it would contain good news for the world," said Chinese Vice Commerce Minister Li Chenggang.

US Commerce Secretary Scott Besant said the talks were "strong and constructive."

The details of the talks would be announced later, but both sides declined to provide further details.

They also said they were considering a new way of negotiating in the future, and that they would hold an economic forum.

Reports indicated that the latest trade agreement reached by the countries could ease trade tensions on both sides due to high tariffs.

As the United States and China ended high-stakes trade talks on a positive note on Sunday, Wall Street stock futures climbed and the dollar firmed against safe haven peers on Monday, according to Reuters.

Investors are still waiting for the details of the agreement to make informed decisions on their businesses.
