Ethiopia is spearheading bold reforms to boost revenue and expand opportunities in the coffee industry, Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh stated at the third G-25 Africa Coffee Summit in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The high-profile summit gathered African heads of state, ministers, coffee industry leaders, and private sector stakeholders to discuss the future of the continent’s coffee industry. Speaking at the two-day event, Temesgen emphasized Ethiopia’s leadership as Africa’s top coffee producer and its commitment to modernizing the sector.

Addis Ababa has been chosen as the host city for the fourth G-25 Africa Coffee Summit in 2027, following Ethiopia’s official request, presented by Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh. The decision marks a major win for Ethiopia, the continent’s top coffee producer, solidifying its leadership in shaping Africa’s coffee industry.

"At the 3rd G-25 Africa Coffee Summit, leaders united to strengthen research and cooperation, unlocking the full potential of our continent’s coffee industry," he said in a social media post. He highlighted Ethiopia’s efforts in driving growth through strategic reforms and initiatives aimed at creating jobs and increasing exports.

Held under the theme “Unlocking Employment Opportunities for Youth through the Regeneration of the African Coffee Industry,” the summit focused on ways to revitalize the sector while creating sustainable employment for young people across the continent.

A key outcome of Ethiopia’s participation was the decision to host the fourth G-25 Africa Coffee Summit in Addis Ababa in 2027—a responsibility Temesgen said Ethiopia embraces with deep commitment.

"As the birthplace of coffee and home to the world’s finest Coffea Arabica, Africa has a unique opportunity to shape the future of the global coffee industry," he noted.

With Ethiopia at the forefront, the G-25 summit signals a new era of collaboration aimed at transforming Africa’s coffee economy.//
