A peace conference, jointly organized by the Ministry of Peace and the Gambella Regional Government, is currently underway in Gambella town, bringing together various community segments. President Alemitu highlighted peace as the foundation for all progress, stating the need to safeguard existing peace to continue development.
She acknowledged past conflicts in the region as obstacles to addressing the people's development needs, but emphasized that efforts are now underway to ensure lasting peace and development. She further stressed the importance of the community strengthening its long-held values of unity and brotherhood to continue its journey of prosperity and national transformation.
State Minister for Federalism and Conflict Management at the Ministry of Peace, Cheru Geta Genene, echoed the need to consolidate the peace achieved and work collaboratively to strengthen development.
State Minister for Peacebuilding and National Reconciliation, Keyredin Tezera, highlighted the successful resolution of past conflicts through joint government and community efforts, emphasizing the need to build on this success by consolidating peace and utilizing the region's development potential to contribute to national growth.
