Ethiopian Airlines Earns $5.6 Billion in Nine Months

Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO, Mesfin Tasew, announced that the airline generated $5.6 billion in revenue during the first nine months of the current Ethiopian fiscal year. This represents an 8% increase compared to the same period last year.

Mesfin also reported that the airline transported 14.5 million passengers over the nine-month period, marking a 13% growth year-on-year.

In line with its expansion plans for the 2017 Ethiopian fiscal year, Ethiopian Airlines has broadened its global reach by opening four new international destinations, further extending its flight network. The airline also took delivery of 10 new aircraft from manufacturers, immediately integrating them into its operations.

Notably, Ethiopian Airlines became the first in Africa to introduce the Airbus A350-1000 into its fleet. Mesfin highlighted the airline's continuous investment in infrastructure development to support its ongoing growth. He also indicated that the Bole International Airport is reaching full capacity, prompting significant efforts to construct new airports.

The CEO concluded by stating that Ethiopian Airlines is actively executing extensive projects as part of its long-term growth strategy, dubbed "Vision 2035."
