Egypt's intervention is said to pose unprecedented threat to Horn of Africa's stability. That is according to Yassin Ahmed, President of the Ethiopian Public Diplomacy Institute (EPDI) in Sweden.

Yassin points to Egypt's lack of success in maintaining peace in its own neighboring countries, such as Sudan and Libya, as evidence of its inexperience and inability to contribute to regional security. He highlights Egypt's history of failed peacekeeping missions and its absence from the African continent for over three decades as further proof of its ineffectiveness.

He disclosed to ENA that Egypt's intervention in Somalia is driven by its desire to exert pressure on Ethiopia over the Grand Renaissance Dam (GERD) project. He sees this as a futile attempt to leverage its influence in the region.

In contrast, Yassin emphasizes Ethiopia's long-standing commitment and experience in regional and global peacekeeping. He highlights Ethiopia's widely recognized and respected role in maintaining peace and security, both regionally and internationally.

He underscores Ethiopia's position as a pivotal, emerging, and rising regional power, earning international and regional respect for its contributions to peace.
