Ethiopia, Djibouti Discuss Oil Supply

An Ethiopian delegation led by Finance Minister, Ahmed Shide, arrived in Djibouti for discussions with Djiboutian Minister of Energy, Yonis Ali Gude, and Omar Hassan, Executive of Horizon Petrol Terminal.

The two sides are expected to nut out problems faced in the daily transfer of oil from Djibouti to Ethiopia and find ways of helping Ethiopia meet its growing demand for oil.

Minister Shide pointed out that there is a need for a supply that takes into account the increasing demand for oil in Ethiopia.

There should be possible solutions to the challenges faced by the terminal, he underscored.

Omer Hassan, on his part, reaffirmed Djibouti’s commitment to meet Ethiopia's oil demand, adding that efforts are underway to repair and expand the oil terminal.

The ministers have reached an agreement to set up a technical committee to monitor the supply performance of the oil terminal and to resolve the problems encountered in the process, according to the Ethiopian Embassy in Djibouti.//
